Free oncological examinations jointly organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation's “Regional Development” Public Union (RDPU), the Ministry of Health and the National Center of Oncology (NCO) have been held in Gabala region. Preventive oncological examinations were carried out by a 12-person team of doctors headed by Professor Aziz Aliyev, First Deputy Director General of the National Center of Oncology. The examinations were carried out in the Mobile Diagnostic Complex equipped with modern medical and technical equipment and instruments, as well as in Gabala Region Central Hospital. Within the project, more than 300 regional residents were involved in examination of thyroid gland, neck tumors, ultrasound, mammary glands mammography and other examinations. Those with the risk of the disease were invited to the National Center of Oncology to undergo full examinations and receive treatments, and the patients with other pathologies were sent to appropriate hospitals as well advised on the site. The goal of the project is to provide screening, timely precise examination and treatment of tumours at the early stage of the diagnosis.
