Christmas was celebrated in Nij settlement

On January 7, a holiday was celebrated at the “Jotari” Albanian Church in Nij settlement of Gabala region on the occasion of the birth of Jesus Christ - Christmas, celebrated by Orthodox Christians around the world. The head of the Albanian-Udi community Robert Mobili, the priest of the church Rafik Danakari and members of the community spoke about the essence of Christmas and the conditions created for religious ceremonies in Azerbaijan, a land of tolerance and thanked the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva for the attention and care shown to Nij settlement, and congratulated on the occasion of the holiday. It was noted that Nij settlement, where Muslims and Christians live in harmony, is considered a small model of tolerance. Speaking at the event, Udis noted that there was no discrimination against them in the region. It was mentioned that there are 3 churches and 2 mosques in Nij settlement. The repair-restoration works carried out by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation at the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Foundation at “Jotari” Albanian Church and the Temple of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Bulun) in 2020 is a good example of tolerance in the country. In the event, veterans of the Patriotic War were presented gifts on the occasion of the holiday.
