The Gabala Tourism and Hotel Business Vocational Training Center hosted an event dedicated to "January 20 - the Day of National Mourning."
On January 17, 2020, an event dedicated to January 20, Day of National Mourning, was held at the Gabala Tourism and Hotel Business Vocational Training Center. The engineering and teaching staff and students of the Center honored the memory of martyrs with a minute of silence. The director of the Education Center E. Kazymov spoke about the terrorist attack of the Soviet Army along with Armenian gangs against the Azerbaijani people on the night of January 19 to 20, 1990. Then, I. Afandiev, the head of the PCT of the Center, made a detailed report. He said that January 20 is a day in the history of the Azerbaijani people, which should be remembered not only with pain and sorrow. We must not forget that the blood of martyrs shed on the streets that day symbolized the red rays of the rising sun of our national identity. That night, our people were able to confront the terrible nightmare that gripped them, the Soviet armed forces and, therefore, demonstrate their dignity and determination. January 20 is the day of national mourning, as well as a day of honor of our people. At the end of the event, a literary and artistic composition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the tragedy of January 20 was performed.
