A poetic competition was held on the theme “Martyrs are not forgotten”.

On January 19, 2019, in the assembly hall of the Gabala district education department, organized by the Office for Youth and Sports of the Gabala region, a poetic competition was held among adolescents and young people on the theme “Martyrs are not forgotten” dedicated to the “Twenty-ninth anniversary of the January 20 tragedy” The purpose of the competition was to convey to the public that those who had become martyrs in the bloody January tragedy, which went down in history of the struggle for the freedom and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan as a page of heroism, wrote a heroic chronicle in history, memories of them will never be erased from our hearts, and that martyrdom is a sacred peak, as well as to develop the artistic and creative potential of adolescents and youth. At the opening ceremony of the contest, first of all, the memory of the Martyrs was honored by a minute of silence. Head of the Department of Youth and Sports Fakhri Soltanov and Director of the Department of Education Arifa Bayramova made a speech about the goals and objectives of the event and spoke about the causes of the “January 20 tragedy”, facts and truths, and also informed the participants of the event about the socio-political events of the time which caused this tragedy. The competition was attended by more than 20 students from different schools of the region. They read poems dedicated to patriotism and our martyrs, our national heroes who died for our lands. According to the regulations of the competition, 1 contestant took the 1st place, 2 contestants took the 2nd place and 3 contestants the 3rd place. According to the results of the competition, Nuray Bekirli took the first place, Narmin Musayeva and Seljan Rafizadeh took the II place, and Zhale Soltanzadeh, Sadig Hajiyev and Narmin Agasiyeva were awarded the third place. The winners were awarded with diplomas and memorable gifts from the Office for Youth and Sports.
