Opening ceremony of Udi Ojag was held in Azerbaijan.

In the world Nij settlement of the region is the only one location where the Udis live in compactly. At present along with the Udis, Lezghins and other peoples live under the conditions of good neighborhood and respect to one-another’s traditions and culture mutually here. Big measures are taken to keep and improve culture and traditions of the Udis like all small-numbered peoples living in Azerbaijan according to the way defined by great leader Heydar Aliyev and the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev. “Chotari” Alban-Udi Christian church dated back to the XIX century was brought into service, being repaired as a result of the state care to ethnic groups. An important measure took place in Nij on August 7. On that day opening ceremony of Azerbaijan-Udi Ojag was held in the settlement. Member of Writers’ Society, Docent of BSU Elza Mollayeva opened the ceremony with welcoming remarks. Head of Gabala Region Executive Power Sabuhi Abdullayev made a speech. Mr Sabuhi Abdullayev spoke about the state care taken to the ethnic groups, maintenance of multicultural values and measures taken to solve the social and economic problems of Nij settlement where the Udis live compactly, in our country and Azerbaijan-Udi Ojag’s role that will play to learn and respect our history by the younger generation. Co-chair of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations of the Republic Gunduz Ismayilov, Dean of the faculty of history of BSU Azad Rzayev, Chief-Editor of the journal of “Azerbaijan world” Eldar Ismayilov, Head of Nij Udi –Christian place of worship Robert Mobili, the representatives of Mountain Jews, place of worship, Azerbaijani Representative Office of Roman Catholic Church, agents of Orthodox Church, businessman Shahvalad Mammadov and Chairperson of Council of Elders of the Republic, Deputy Fattah Heydarov made a speech and appreciated opening of Azerbaijan Udi-Ojag as an important step for more development of multiculturalism. Then the participants of the event became closely acquainted with condition made in Azerbaijan-Udi Ojag.
