In connection with Novruz festival there were held general celebrations in Gabala.

The spring festival of Novruz, which is a symbol of abundance and represents an awakening, rebirth, and prosperity of our people, as well as fine qualities of hard work and virtue, was held in Gabala. In the city park named after Heydar Aliyev a ceremony was held, in which a great number of people participated, among whom were the head of the Executive Power of Gabala region Sabuhi Abdullayev, the staff of the executive power administration, labor collectives of various institutions, enterprises and organizations, including representatives of the community. The participants enjoyed the exhibition, where samples of applied and fine arts, of carpet making and weaving, some industrial products, local building materials were exhibited. They also got acquainted with the samples of handicraft made by skilled craftsmen residing in Gabala. In the park decorated with the samani, the symbol of the awakening of nature, as well as other attributes of Novruz, festive khonchas and various traditional sweets were received with interest. Ladies, dressed in national costumes, knit socks, combed wool, spun on a spinning wheel, churned butter, baked flat cakes on a sadj, and reminded everyone of the ancient folk arts and crafts. One of the participants of the event, the head of the Executive Power of Gabala region Sabuhi Abdullayev congratulated the participants of the festival and all people of Gabala with the holiday and expressed his best wishes. The speaker said that with the return to power of national leader Heydar Aliyev many of the traditions of the people, including holidays were restored. He also stressed that the great leader always treated our national, moral values with great respect and attention and that he took care to preserve our traditions. The speaker also reminded that it was due to the great leader, his patriotic activity and love for the people that today Novruz holiday is celebrated in the country, that this holiday encourages society to the good and noble deeds, selfless work, strengthens the faith in the future. A theatrical performance took place on the platform where according to the tradition bonfires were lit and festive characters brought certain traditions and ceremonies into life. Musicians, art groups skillfully demonstrated the folk tradition, samples of ancient folklore. Participants performed dances; tightrope walkers demonstrated breathtaking stunts; athletes performed in the square. The celebrations ended with mass festivities and gave the citizens a pleasant, festive mood.
